Prior to moving to Eden Prairie in 2000, Brad served as an newspaper editor and hard news reporter. In Eden Prairie he worked as an executive in high-tech firms, including ADC Telecommunications and Allot Communications. More recently he has worked in high-tech firms in Minnesota and in Silicon Valley while residing in Eden Prairie. Brad graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA, and has a Master of Business Communications degree from the University of St. Thomas (UST). Brad is currently researching high-tech entrepreneurial leadership for a doctorate from the UST-School of Education. “Brad the Dad” has three children, one grown, two in Eden Prairie schools, and especially enjoys exploring Eden Prairie’s trials and lakes with his wife Sandi.

ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge Apple Valley, Minn. – Students from Forest Hills Elementary and Cedar Ridge Elementary were recognized today for their STEM skills as winners of the 2020-21 ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge. The Minnesota Zoo’s award-winning program, presented by Flint Hills Resources, is a yearlong project that challenges elementary, middle and high school students from across Minnesota to develop solutions for real zoo-based scenarios. Thanks to nearly $57,000 in funding from the Eden Prairie Community Foundation (EPCF) and one of its charitable fund holders, at-risk young people, older adults facing hardship, victims of domestic violence, and people with special needs are among Eden Prairie residents who will be helped this year. Richard “Dick” “Emmy” Emahiser, 70, formerly of Eden Prairie, died suddenly Friday, February 19, 2021 at his home in Crosslake, MN. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held later this year, more details to follow as they become available. A pilot project to build stronger relationships among Eden Prairie nonprofits and civic organizations has been launched by the Eden Prairie Community Foundation (EPCF), according to a EPCF press release. The pilot will test the theory that the EPCF, working more closely with charitable and service organizations serving Eden Prairie, can bring about more positive impact, better communication, and less duplication. At an Eden Prairie City Council meeting on February 2, 2021, Jim Alexander, the Acting Project Director for the Southwest LRT (SWLRT) project confirmed the timeline delay: “It is not going to happen in 2023.” Two stabilization projects discovered in the Minneapolis portion of the 14.5-mile extension to Eden Prairie are creating the delay, according to Alexander. In February crews began repairs on a culvert carrying Purgatory Creek underneath the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail in Eden Prairie.  According to information provided by Hennepin County, the repair work will continue into the Spring of 2021. The trail has historically been operated by Three Rivers Park District via an interim use permit from the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA).
