Eden Prairie Schools (EPS) students, teachers, and staff are returning to school this week. K-9 students had their first day on Tuesday, Sep.6. Due to Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) hosting ninth grade orientation that day, students in grades 10-12 began a day later on Wednesday, Sep. 7. Last year saw major changes including new school start times, sixth graders moving to CMS, and Pre-K moving to the elementary schools. Five spots on the Eden Prairie School Board will be up for grabs in the upcoming Nov. 8 election. Four of the open spots are for full four-year terms expiring on Jan. 6, 2027. There also will be a special election to select one board member for a two-year term to fill a seat vacancy that expires on Jan. 6, 2025. Four members of Eden Prairie’s Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Viking Composite Squadron recently trained with local municipal, county, and state emergency personnel in a search and rescue exercise (SAREX) near Mankato. On July 16, 1st Lt. Two Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) students are sharing their passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by hosting a free four-day summer camp for girls. Girls in grades 1-4 are invited to register for “Girlboss: Girls in STEM Summer Camp” through Eden Prairie Community Education. South Minneapolis-based dance troupe Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue shared the tradition of Nahuatl/Aztec dance with an Eden Prairie audience at Staring Lake Amphitheatre on Thursday evening, July 7. The group gave a spirited performance backed by music created by rhythmic drums, conch shells, and other natural instruments.
