We just had our daughter Kristen Doherty’s baby shower (at the new Round Lake Park building) on Feb. 10, 2024. It was a huge success, and everyone LOVED the building. A lot of positive feedback from everyone. We would highly recommend this to anyone having a family reunion, high school graduation or any big occasion. Wonderful asset to the City of Eden Prairie. On Tuesday, Feb. 27, voters across Minnesota will be gathering in our neighborhoods for precinct caucuses. If you care about issues like lower taxes, better schools, and safer neighborhoods, I encourage you to come to a Republican caucus. To participate, you will be asked to confirm that you agree generally to the principles of the Party. You don’t have to agree with EVERY Republican candidate’s opinions. Just consider this: What principles and policies do you think are best for your family and state? There is too much at stake to be a spectator. If we care about returning fiscal responsibility…
Trick question: If extreme weather cost the U.S. almost $180 billion in one year, what portion of the cost was borne by companies that produce fossil fuels? The correct answer is NEGATIVE $20 billion. We do not charge; in fact, we subsidize. For hundreds of thousands of years, CO2 levels in the atmosphere varied between 200 and 280 parts per million (ppm), with approximately 100,000 years between the highs. In the last 150 years, they have gone from under 300 ppm to over 415. This change in timescale is so dramatic that it’s challenging to create a graph that accurately…

Letter: Stan Tekiela’s retirement marks the end of an era in Eden Prairie, where he transformed outdoor education with innovative programs.
Editor’s note: This letter was written in response to our Oct. 25 story, “Brotherhood in the Big 12 for the Obiazor family.” Congratulations to the Obiazor family for the remarkable success of each of their four children! They have all succeeded not only as athletes but in the classroom as well. I have no doubt each will be very successful in whatever they decide to do with their lives! They got a great start in life with Eden Prairie schools and with loving parents supporting each of them! Bob Lambert, St. Peter
Thank you for the series on teen suicide. This topic has been on my mind for years, since I now have grandchildren who are becoming teenagers. When Minnesota had a $17.9 billion surplus, my thought was that it should be put towards mental health. As the story about Jonas Wagner indicated, we don’t have enough professional help for kids or adults. Mental health is tied to suicide, crime (car racing, car hijacking, etc.), addiction and homelessness. These are all growing problems in our society. Only a small amount of the surplus was spent on mental health. I’ve also wondered about how religion…
I find your (March 24) story about the Frederick-Miller Spring lawsuit utterly biased. There is not a single word about the environmental impact million-dollar housing will have. It would also have been appropriate to include at least a few interviews with the people who have been picking up water there for years and rely on it. We know that, with climate change and warming, it has become imperative to protect all access to clean water. The monetization of nature must stop. Barbro Goransson, Eden Prairie Editor’s note: The lawsuit referred to in this letter was dismissed in March against the…
