Riverview Road in Eden Prairie has reopened to through traffic, the City of Eden Prairie reported on social media on Monday. Rising water levels from the Minnesota River caused the road’s closure, between Hennepin Town Road and Parker Drive, on April 24. The city stated last week that the road would remain closed until the water subsided, and inspectors had assessed any damage to the pavement.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. Demolition of the westernmost building of Shutterfly’s two-building campus north of Interstate 494, along Viking Drive, is underway. Under a plan approved by the Eden Prairie City Council in December 2021, the company will keep the area open and green for its employees to enjoy once the building is removed. The campus was built in 1997 by Lifetouch, which was purchased by Shutterfly in 2018. An Eden Prairie man’s death has been ruled an accidental freshwater drowning with complicating multiple blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle collision, according to a Thursday press release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office. An Eden Prairie police officer was recognized on Tuesday by the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety for his work in stopping two teenagers who were racing vehicles at nearly 100 mph down Pioneer Trail. Officer Todd Groves was on proactive traffic patrol near Pioneer Trail and Staring Lake Parkway on April 5 when he noticed two cars racing at dangerous speeds, reported the Eden Prairie Police Department blog on Thursday. Eden Prairie residents can recycle household items directly from their curbside throughout May. According to the city, items that can be recycled include appliances, tires, electronics, propane tanks, exercise equipment, furniture, mattresses, and box springs. Only Eden Prairie residents are eligible for this service, and all items must be free from hazardous substances. Light bulbs and batteries will not be accepted. SouthWest Transit’s temporary facility at SouthWest Station in Eden Prairie — including the long, plywood tunnel between the parking ramp and the boarding area — will soon disappear. The local transit agency will be operating out of the new and permanent facilities at SouthWest Station along Technology Drive starting Monday, May 1. Workers from Prairie Restoration, Inc. conducted a prescribed burn Tuesday in the Prairie Bluff Conservation Area in southern Eden Prairie, overlooking the Minnesota River. Prairie burns help rejuvenate growth and ensure long-term survival of the native prairie by controlling invasive plants, according to the city, which is conducting prescribed burns in a number of areas this spring. The ground is charred by the carefully controlled burn, but plant growth – including from new species – occurs almost immediately in these areas.
