With a winter storm warning issued for the Twin Cities on Tuesday, the City of Eden Prairie declared a snow event effective Nov. 29-30. A city news alert sent to residents on Tuesday stated that a snow emergency would occur here as soon as snow accumulation reached 2 inches. According to Fox 9, 4-7 inches of snow is possible in the Twin Cities. The National Weather Service reported 2.5 inches of snow had fallen in Chanhassen at about noon Tuesday. Eden Prairie residents and businesses can drop off yard waste at the city’s Yard Waste Site, 9811 Flying Cloud Drive, until it closes for the season at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. Hours of operation, guidelines for use and a list of materials accepted at the site are available on the city’s website.
Chase is accelerating its expansion into Minnesota, bringing the total number of bank branches in the Twin Cities to more than 40 locations by 2025 – 68% more than initially committed. The Eden Prairie Community Band, sponsored by the City of Eden Prairie, has updated its website located at www.epcommunityband.com. The website is now mobile-friendly and secure, according to a press release. People can review the band’s concert schedule on its homepage and download a copy as a PDF. They can also join a new email list that sends out schedule changes to the concert schedule. Whenever it snows, Eden Prairie plows clear 233 miles of city streets, as well as sidewalks and trails, according to the city. On behalf of the drivers of those plows, the city is asking residents help with snow removal efforts by shoveling around hydrants and mailboxes and clearing the sidewalks in front of their homes. It is illegal to throw your snow on to the street. When the forecast indicates a snow accumulation of two inches or more, the city will declare a Snow Event. A total of 30,929 Eden Prairie residents voted in the Tuesday, Nov. 8, election. That, according to Eden Prairie City Clerk Nicole Tingley, amounted to 72% percent of the total number of registered voters (42,953) in the city. In 2018, the last midterm election, 33,086 Eden Prairie residents voted. That amounted to 79% of the total number of registered voters (41,794) in the city. Dr. Bruce Darol Fossey breathed his last and crossed the river to join God’s heavenly band after succumbing to complications of cancer at his home in The Villages, Florida, on Oct. 15. Dr. Fossey was born in Minneapolis on Nov. 2, 1949, and was a graduate of Edina High School, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Minnesota Medical School, graduating with honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha Societies.
